Digicel Foundation Opened its 174th School in Haiti

Digicel Foundation Haiti opened its 174th school in February 2018. The completion of the PJ Mara de Jolivert National School moved the Foundation one step closer to achieving its goal. In 2014 following the inauguration of its 150th school, the Foundation committed to completing the construction of an additional 25 schools.

A special project of the Foundation, the PJ Mara de Jolivert National School was dedicated to the memory of Patrick James Mara, a member of Digicel Group’s Board of Directors, who passed away in 2016. Serving the community of Jolivert, the school was updated to include new earthquake-resistant and hurricane-resistant construction. With its 11 classrooms, the school can accommodate more than 400 students. Additional facilities updated included an administrative building, library, computer lab and kitchen, among others.
